Vratsata

The Vratsata Pass, called Vratitsa in the Middle Ages, is a symbol of the city of Vratsa and is closely tied to its name. It was declared a natural landmark in 1964 and covers an area of 2 hectares. The road leading to Ledenika Cave, the tourist complex of the same name, Parshevitsa Hut, and the village of Zgorigrad passes through it. The pass is a gorge formed by the Leva River and is an extraordinarily beautiful and impressive rock formation. The vertical cliffs of Vratsata are the highest on the Balkan Peninsula—over 400 meters tall—and are the most popular climbing destination in Bulgaria. They are divided into the Central Wall, the Eastern Massif, and the Zgorigrad Massif. Over 140 climbing routes of varying difficulty are mapped along them, some of which are iconic for Bulgarian mountaineering, such as "Ogledalata" (The Mirrors), "Vtori Kongres" (Second Congress), "Vinkela" (The Angle Iron), "Kucheshkiya Zab" (The Dog's Tooth), and others. Due to the specific features of the rock terrain and safety standards, the routes have been re-equipped with modern bolts in recent years.

Remains of the medieval fortress Vratitsa (10th–12th century) are preserved within the gorge.

There is a shelter built for relaxation with a table and benches. A drinking water spring is located nearby. The monument to Radan Voivode can also be found in the area.
