P. Milanovo - mach. Old village - ext. Enraged

2:20 Hours
5.9 km

The route starts at the main square in Milanovo along Staroselska Street. At the T-junction, turn left, then immediately right onto a dirt track that turns into a trail across a meadow with a fountain.

Descending a steep gully (rich with wild orchids in spring), you reach the abandoned hamlet of Staro Selo (the original Osikovo village) in about 30 minutes. At the first house, take the dirt road left, then turn left again at the fork to reach the restored medieval Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.

Alternative: You can reach the church directly via a 2 km dirt road starting 50m past the village T-junction.

After the church, head diagonally right across the meadows without a clear trail to cross the stream bed into the Sapachur Valley toward the Iskar River.

The forest path follows the stream, crossing early bridges before entering a section with 6 unbridged stream crossings. Pass an old watermill, lime kiln, and water intakes before reaching the main road by the river.

Practical tips: In spring, high water makes stream crossings tricky - bring trekking poles. In summer, sections after the fountain and church are heavily overgrown with tall grass - use a GPS track to stay on course.

  • The route is not marked.

  • There is a large gazebo and a fountain at the church in Staro Selo.
